Director - Zoya Akhtar (Debut)
Cast - Farhan Akhtar, Konkona Sen Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Juhi Chawla, Sanjay Kapoor, Isha Sharvani and Hrithik Roshan.
Preview - Javed Akhtar's daughter and Farhan Akhtar's sister Zoya Akhtar makes her directorial debut "Luck By Chance" which was one of the most awaited films for last 5 years or otherwise. The movie also stars Farhan Akhtar who achieved great heights with his debut movie "Rock On". It boasts of a huge starcast something which only the other women director in the film industry Farah Khan does quite proficiently. And above all , it has Hrithik Roshan. Too many expectations!!!!
About the movie - The movie takes on the dark and real side of Hindi Film Industry. Behind the world of glamour and money, there is another world which is fiercely competitive and dark that somebody's aspirations are fulfilled and others meet the dust. Its a story of two struggling actors Vikram (Farhan Akhtar) and Sona (Konkona Sen Sharma) , one of whom luckily and instantly becomes a movie star and the other one unluckily, struggles in the film industry despite spending considerable time. Its a story of veteran director and producer Rommy Rolly (Rishi Kapoor), who casts the best actor in the industry Zafar Khan (Hrithik Roshan) and verteran actress Neena's (Dimple Kapadia) daughter Nikki (Isha Sharvani) to make a blockbuster. But Zafar backs out and Vikram gets a chance (again thanks to his luck).
Strengths -
- Performances by the lead actors and Rishi Kapoor is amazing.
- Zoya Akhtar is one promising talent. I am looking forward to her future movies.
- Star cameos are really special. You spend 100-300 bucks and you get to see all the movie stars (paisa vasool!). SRK gets the best and the most realistic dialogue in the film.
Weaknesses -
- Complex and half baked character of Hrithik Roshan. You expect a lot from Hrithik Roshan.
- The ending of the movie is something which I guess will confuse even the multiplex audience. Poor Masses!!!
- Music score by Shankar Ehsaan Loy.
Overall Verdict - For the people who are in awe of the film industry will find this movie very good and for those who are not, the movie is luckily good enough.
Rating - 3.5/5
